Hello!
Welcome to the first APS Reform newsletter. This newsletter will bring you monthly updates on APS Reform, as well as top articles and stories from our website.
In October, the Minister for the Public Service, Senator the Hon Katy Gallagher announced the Government’s APS Reform plan, which was backed with $72.9 million funding over three years in the Budget. APS Reform is well and truly underway.
Trust in Government strengthens everything we do. That is why integrity and trust are such an important part of APS Reform. The Government legislated the National Anti-Corruption Commission on 30 November 2022. The Commission will look into serious, systemic corruption in national government. Read about the National Anti-Corruption Commission on the Attorney-General's Department website for a summary of its roles.
An important part of building trust is being open and transparent. We have shared the 2021-22 Survey of Trust in Australian public services in a new Annual Report. It includes more detail on trust and satisfaction with key government service providers.
It’s great to see agencies publishing their 2022 APS Employee Census results. The majority of respondents (83%) rated their workgroup’s overall performance as excellent or very good. Similarly, almost three-quarters (71%) rated their agency as excellent or very good at meeting its goals and objectives.
Next year, we’ll be talking to public servants about more changes underway. If you would like to be part of this conversation email apscommunication@pmc.gov.au
Have a safe and happy festive season.
Best
Gordon
